What it does:
What is Campussizzle?
Simply put, Campussizzle is an online extension of your campus noticeboard. Right now, everyone uses the noticeboard to put up advertisements about events happening around college, about stuff they want to sell, stuff they want to buy, services they offer, services they need etc. We have put all of that and more, online on one website.

Why do we think it is useful?
We happen to think this is extremely beneficial to every student. Listings on the campus noticeboard can only be seen by people who have physical access to it, i.e. who can visit it to post their ads, to browse through other ads etc. But what about outstation students, or students who live away from campus, or students who simply can’t be bothered to walk all the way to the noticeboard? That’s where we come in. We have created this simple yet ingenious solution to all your problems. Using a website to post and view ads is a LOT cheaper (free) and less time consuming than advertising through the noticeboard or newspapers. (Yup, that means a lot more money to spend on more important things such as that bag you’ve been dying to buy, or the new ipod.) Your advertisements can be a lot longer and more detailed than they would on the noticeboard, and you don’t have to worry about them getting replaced or ripped off. If words aren’t enough to describe the amazing product you have to sell, you can even include a photo to show it off!

What can you do with it?
This is your space. Use it to post advertisements about anything you want to buy, anything you want to sell or an upcoming event that you want to tell people about!

Looking for accommodation? Looking for a housemate? Looking for a tutor?*
All you have to do is log on to the website and select your university on the top, and then select a category from the left to see all the advertisements in the area near you. Search by keyword and filter the results by campus area or to find relevant postings in the area near you.

Want to sell a book? Want to sell your old laptop? Need a job? Need to start a car pool?*
You can also post advertisements specifying what you need to buy or sell using the option on the right hand side of the site. Simply fill in the basic details about your service or product, and verify your e-mail address to have the advertisement posted on the site within minutes.

Want to tell people about your upcoming play? Need to publicize your college fest?*
Publicize events by selecting the ‘post an event’ option on the right hand side of the screen. Fill in the details about your event, add a description, add photographs or images and verify your e-mail address to have it added to the events calendar on the right.

*This list is only indicative and the actual list of categories is far more extensive. We could just go on and on and on and on…

How it beats the competition:

VoteFor Art.com holds graphic design contests for organizations where the winning design based on votes from fans and supporters is printed on t-shirts and sold on our website and at the organizations retail location. We have already held contests for major organizations including the University of Maryland, Oregon State, University of Wisconsin, Texas AM and the Moondance Jam Rock Festival to name a few. Our site helps organizations connect with their fan base and at the same time, helps increase merchandise sales because they will know exactly what their supporters will want to buy. It will also help build excitement amongst their fans leading up to any type of event (Fundraiser, holiday etc.)

VoteForArt.com also gives artists the opportunity to design for their favorite organizations, make money and earn huge exposure.

How it beats the competition:
We are focusing on helping brands get really cool crowdsourced merchandise. Other crowdsourcing sites do not focus on organizations and brands. Vote For Art is more of a marketing company, where brands can connect and engage their fanbase and get a bonus of crowdsourced approved merchandise that will sell really well.

Rebookd.com – Where Students Trade Textbooks

This website stands as an online student-to-student marketplace where textbooks can be bought and sold. That is, Rebookd gives students the ability to buy/sell their textbooks directly with other students, avoiding middlemen and the typical mark-upthat goes with them. Using the site is inexpensive, as an account is created at no cost and just a small fee has to be paid by the buyer and the seller when a transaction takes place.

The idea, then, is providing a marketplace for students to buy and sell their own books so that both sides can save money and also time – it is a one-on-one relationship. The seller can charge a price he knows that is fair (if only because he is a student himself), whereas the buyer is able to pinpoint the precise edition he is after.

For the time being, the service is placing its focus on 11 Midwestern universities. These include the Universities of Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota and Indiana among others. In actuality, every student is welcome to use the site, notwithstanding his current location so you won’t be prevented from carrying out a transaction through it.
