What it does:
Uencounter.me is a Web 2.0 application that offers interest and fun via mapping life experiences with a special focus on recognizing the people that were encountered there. Uencounter.me allows for public expressions of gratitude that acknowledge positive interactions. Utilizing a specific point in time, even those ‘encounters’ that are vague in our memory or completely random, can be publicly recognized and appreciated. In addition, finding old friends or acquaintances by posting an Inquiry with a photo and using the power of social communication is also accomplished. Engaging in ‘map fun’, a unique feature of uencounter.me is the ability to ‘overlay’ a user map onto that of another with whom you are ‘linked’; allowing users to identify when they may have been in the same place at the same time but were unaware! Furthermore, uencounter.me allows the user identify how their links are connected – bringing the concept of ‘six degrees of separation’ to life! Users serendipitously learn something novel about old or new friends and are able to engage in the power of Gratitude at the same time.
How it beats the competition:
In as much as uencounter.me shares characteristics of other ‘social networks’, it also offers distinct unique features. For entertainment and curiosity, uencounter.me uniquely provides the ability for a user to represent their life experiences geographically and overlay their own map upon another user’s map so that shared encounters may be identified. As users create encounters, they may add specific details about the people that were there, ask others that were there for input into finding someone, post a note of gratitude, and/or share with others.
